Lawsuits Over Lost Katrina Pets

There are custody battles going on involving pets rescued from Katrina-hit areas, taken to shelters, then adopted out. Now some original owers are crying foul, and suing to get their animals back.

I had no idea this was going on. But I am also not surprized. The whole thing was a mess from the start. If they handled the humans so poorly could we expect anything more for our pets?

Los Angeles was on the receiving end of some Katrina animals. And one thing they did in LA, CA was kill MORE LA, CA animals to make room for the Katrina animals. Whoever had the idea that to bring animals to LA, CA was nuts because LA, CA is SO OVERPOPULATED and a HUGE problem we cannot handle, why bring in more? But then I attempted to contact my home state of WYoming and ask the shelter there to help. But even though they are a 80% adoption rate (as opposed to LA, CA's 80% KILL Rate) they would not nor could not maintain those animals would be there until their people could find them.

And while at first December seemed like a ways off it was a split second. I know how hard it is to start over. I had a fire. It takes MONTHS years. Even today I look for something only to discover that it was lost in the fire and never replaced. But I digress.

Good for you to bring this to light. I got a link to your blog off a letter written about a trainer who killed a dog.
