More Critter Photos From Arizona
Beavers on the San Pedro River gnawed at these cottonwoods. Why do they do this? To get to the tender green leaves at the top of the tree! Who knew? They can't climb, so they bring the food source down to their level.
And the answer to the question: Why do beavers make dams? To create deep pools to conceal their underwater den entrances from predators. Pretty smart little critters!
Cody, one of the house dogs at the wonderful hacidenda-style Casa de San Pedro B&B in Hereford, where we stayed after our nature walk along the river (see posting below). If you ever get to Southern Arizona, I highly recommend it. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was incredible. Check out the website: bedandbirds.com.
Resident critters at Muleshoe Ranch, where we spent two nights, taking day hikes in the hills and along nature trails. Deb #2 is making nice to the mule.
